Another one going for tea, biscuits and a chat?

An accident on the A63 is causing delays this afternoon (Wednesday) after a lorry shed its load of steel.

The lorry has spilled its load on the westbound carriageway at the Daltry Street flyover, blocking the road to vehicles heading out of Hull. Emergency services are at the scene.

A diversion is taking motorists via the slip road to Daltry Street and the entry slip back on to the A63. However, traffic is queueing. Motorists are advised to avoid the route if possible.

I think people on here assume it’s easy to end up talking to the TC. I had a pretty monumental accident and never had a ‘chat’.

Noooooo!!!

You can’t just dismiss a great trucking myth like that without a warning or spoiler alert!

Suprised the coppers let the driver reload his vehicle with the crane, since he couldn’t even carry out a simple task like drive a truck round a little bend!!

Agency driver.

A regular driver would have loaded that back on, in live traffic, before the rozzers showed up…

At least he had the HIAB on the back and could clean up his own mess

It depends what you mean by monumental accident, whether it was caused by something that was an operator licencing issue, or just a driving issue.

I’ve known of two companies who have basically been shut down by Joan Aitken for multiple insecure loads, although one of them killed an innocent road user.

I never did hear if anything came of this one, though:

pins set at 3 mtr, logs at 2.8 mtr. ■■■■ happens !!

I’m sure it got logged somewhere.

It’s still being investigated by “Special Branch”

At least it wasn’t on a “Trunk” road. :unamused:

Taxiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Driver must of had sawdust between his ears…

I wood explain that was barking up the wrong tree for a while until I twigged what was going on.

I’ve worked out that it wasn’t caused by a splinter group, so now I’ll take a bough.

Greenhill Street, Dingwall… oops, wrong forum

I would be suprised if the driver spilt his load after slamming the brakes on, after spotting the camera van that lurks near there

Going the wrong way for the camera. The camera van normal on the E/B carrageway after the bridge. He’s W/B after the bridge.

Still I can’t Belive they let him reload him self… But at least common sense prevailed on that.

That road really was having a bad day last week.

Got stuck there on Thurs after they shut everything in the area for someone having a cig on the Humber Bridge and the A63 runs under it (no where near the smoker).

And earlier on Wed morning, there was that motorbike accident going eastbound.
Wasn’t the missing manhole cover around there too last week?

without a crane as well no doubt, being a superhero regular.

The camera van also parks after the bottom of the bridge on the westbound carriageway here.

Where he is stopped is pretty much where you’d notice it.

Recent article in commercial motor featured a company that had 4 PG9s issued for load securing issues over a 2 year period. The TC called that ‘persistently failing’ and cut the O licence for 3 months as well as warning all drivers they face licence suspension if it happens again.

If 4 times in two years is persistent, then half the loads I see on the roads would mean a lot of O licences revoked
