So, will we get any extra pay for driving these ?
Explain again how fewer trucks on the road cause more congestion more bs by the get trucks off the roads campaign.
And no you will not get a pay rise for driving them.
As soon as I saw Daily Mail …
Oh by the way, less trucks equals less drivers needed in an already very crowded market place which equals less pay - again!
surely theyd be granted bus lane status! Man enough to admit they
re out of my capability, by the way - I was chuffed with my cat c last Nov, but hats off (not) to the gutsy men and women who jump gamely in and knowingly or unknowingly undermine future jobs.
No slack route planning advised.
Sounds like a good idea. Are they going to spend the millions of pounds needed to improve parking areas and RDCs?
and alter alot of the older towns and road network to widen them enough
Also we should get paid class 1 and 2 class wages for driving them to cope with the added stress
With a pup trailer on the back they’ll take the same amount of room as your normal artic . As has been posted before it’s armageddon via the Daily Fail ,ignore .
I can’t wait to take one round Park Royal!
Why don’t we just get it over and done with and stop all truck movement for a week in the uk includes ports as well so no shunting no preparing trailers for next week and see how long people last without us it grinds my gears when people are so ■■■■ arrogant
I think the “Denby” setup would work better than the existing UK - Longer trailers (28 pallets are fine as they are near enough the same as a normal ones, but the 30 pallet trailers have rear steer on all the time - even in reverse, so you see some very interesting shunts at certain depots)
I love the comments “It will take so long to overtake them”
That seems to be the main objection to them

How? Does the trailer fold up for parking?
Lymm would be alright for parking, But getting out of knutsford or corley would be fun.
most services would have to reduce parking areas by a 1/3rd. So they’ll no doubt see an earner.
No doubt the government will decide that we need further training. C+E+E licence. Another nice little earner.
I remember when ■■■■ Denby and Stan Robinson were interviewed about LHV’s. They both agreed on the following points:
£500 per week wages for C+E, Less lorry movements, Less fuel, two drivers doing the work of three and being paid £500 per week.

I’ve driven that kind of artic + drag quite a lot, and they do cut in a bit more than an artic. Reversing is also entertaining.
I’ve also driven the same length combination with a rigid pulling a 45’ trailer on an A frame, and those are much more agile, actually take less room on corners than a regular artic. I posted a view from the driver’s seat of taking a 90 degree right at the lights (we drive on the right in Finland) without needing to swing out at all, here on trucknet, but it was a long time ago.

I agree with your Daily Smell comment…I’m surprised they didn’t manage to link in how these would affect house prices and increase the number of illegal immigrants
On the flip side, they’d remove a few but not all 44t wagons and there is a shortage of drivers already…there’s also a shortage of pay increases and shortage of long term planning within management of the haulage industry too…that though doesn’t seem to bother a lot of people…
There will be no shortage of cab happy mutts waiting to drive these for no extra. I can’t see enough cash being offered to make me seriously consider getting behind the wheel of these. Not that I think they’ll happen any time soon…
I think there would be ok if they were restricted to certain routes, but of course you would get planners sending them all over the place.
Really no good for a general operation things can get tight enough now.
They are no big deal to drive however it will not happen in the UK.Our congested overcrowded crumbling roads could not deal with them.
Daily Mail must be short of proper news.
I feel dirty for clicking on a Daily Mail link.
For someone who claims to be part of the Campaign for Better Transport, their alleged spokeswoman doesn’t seem to be to clued up on things she’d like to think she knows about. ‘More pollution’… I wonder how given that it would take fewer trucks to move the same amount of stuff?
Would you still get farmers etc saying “we had bigger than that in ere drive”

Yeah, me too. I think we only read it cos it’s free
