Wrong way on m6!

Sums up a large number of Eastern European drivers who can’t drive to a decent standard and have a complete disregard for UK traffic laws. I pulled up behind a Duvenbeck Actros, that had stopped in lane 1, on a section with no hard shoulder, to swap drivers and have a pee as well. This was less than 2 miles after Toddington services. We have caught numerous drivers ■■■■■■■■ on the verge whilst parked on the hard shoulder and even caught one ■■■■■■■■ in the trees in Toddington Services. There are some good ones but few and far between unfortunately.

Tell me about it, I have a colleague from Slovakia, he is the most unprofessional disorganised, slapdash halfwit I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen some English spanners in my time too)

I tore him a new one on his 3rd day for thinking he could fanny about with a tablet as he drove (I was passenger).

Imho a lot of eastern drivers have a totally different starting point from non ex soviet nations, we have to turn up with a semi switched on attitude.

Btw Russians however, can graft and are usually pretty clued up.

Banning them won’t bother them as they will carry on out side of the UK. in these case as the ban is irrelevant they shud either serv the sentence or receive huge fines

The ban is enforced in the whole EU, regardless of the country where the drivers is from or his licence.

the ban only applies if they apply for a uk license

Did anyone notice they were only referred to as “foreign nationals” their country of origin wasn’t mentioned.

In order for the ban to apply in the whole EU the UK court must inform the DL issuing Institution which suspends the driving licence immediately. Its simple and fast, we(EU) have the system for stolen cars, driving licences, arrest warrants etc. we all just have to learn how to use it,(EUCARIS and RESPER), the suspension will be into the system in no time and the driver will not be able to drive in EU or get licence from other EU country.
No licence no lorry driving!

And why country of origin should be mentioned? To fuel hate and racism between people? Well I’m Bulgarian and law abiding driver, some of my fellow citizens are not like me, others are like me. The country of origin doesn’t proof driving skills and lawful manners.

Do I have to think that all British nationals are like the British tourists at Sunny Beach, or should you think all Bulgarians are like the beggars-gypsies in Hyde Park…let’s leave nationality out of it.

I agree nothing to do with nationality. Driven in Europe many times and find drivers far have a far better standard than in the UK. Also there is far less bad attitude and far more courtesy.
Good and bad everywhere but UK has a high share of bad and it seems to get worse by the day.

Dolph, Ignore the people that FOCUS on a driver’s nationality, as their prodigious just demonstrates that they are ignorant and small minded.

The UK has more than it’s fair share of scumbags and moron, but some feel the need to criticize other nationalities to make themselves feel better.
For one, they are probably jealous that YOU can speak more languages then them!

However, I don’t think it was muckaway’s intention to have a dig, he was probably just curious…

Spot on EB, although if I see a foreign lorry parked in a daft place, hazards on with driver jumping out, clutching paperwork I try to get by sharpish.

Graft lol .them days are gone work smart and get migrants to help the riff raff that think health and Safety is a pop group

I don’t understand if they are that good .why are their drivers coming here .can’t they run an economy and drive…no so they come and tell us lazy English health and Safety is unnecessary… See u in a and e

It’s always been easy to make a quick mistake on foreign single carriageways. But motorways and duals are a totally different matter. That takes a different level of stupidity to the point where it should mean a mandatory jail term. :unamused:

I’m guessing that your ‘European’ ‘experience’ wasn’t in Eastern Europe.Trust me going by the former Yugoslavia at least they generally drive like nutters.

As for Romanians. :unamused:

To be fair driving on the correct side of a motorway isn’t a health and safety issue.

Sharp becomes one if you choose the wrong side!
