The only good news is that Mike Pence has recognised Biden as the legitimate winner of the election, and those Republicans who were contesting some votes have now dropped their objections. Odd as it may seem I did once work with a lot of quite senior US law enforcement officers and military personnel. I found that they mostly impressed me.
Thus, when this Trump character was elected I thought then that, if this strange character did attempt something manifestly foolish and dangerous by giving orders to “his” military they would have a Nelson moment-that is telescope to blind eye and not getting the order. I understand today that very senior Pentagon staff have already, today, told senior military officers that any Presidential order has to be cleared by them before action! I do hope that is true.

I too share your hopes.
The way Trump has surrounded himself with yes-men and just sacks any experts who disagree with his own wishes is worrying, but hopefully there are still enough sane ones there to keep a lid on it all.

The one lady who was killed, by apparently deliberate act, in the actual demonstration that had forced its way (past an oddly weak security cordon), was in fact a long serving veteran of the military of many years service (RIP ma’am), who was shot in the neck by a wholly incompetent mall type cop who fired into a crowd.
How come it was fine for innocent business owners to have their shops and places of work destroyed and their stock and machinery looted or burned, but it isn’t alright for those same poiticians and media mouths when the same tactic breaches their place, a place if business that they didn’t build and it won’t cost one dime of their money to put right the damage.
Yes things got out of hand, but trust me on this you haven’t seen anything yet.
Americans to a great extent are patriots, i admire that, sadly in this country patriots are viewed somewhat differently as that well known working class socialist Lady Nugee would tell you if she would care to recall, the American people, the real people who work for a living on both sides, will never accept Biden as true President because the evidence that the election was stolen in certain states and counties is too great to dismiss out of hand as the media has done, had their been a fair inquiry with all evidence heard and only legal votes counted (or elections held again in half a dozen states where fraud was rife) and Boiden proved to be a legit President elect then he would be accepted and rightly so.
There will be four years of turmoil in the USA.
Don’t think for one moment this doesn’t have implications for the rest of the world, including us, but who should be worried most now are those in the middle east just rebuilding their lives, the warmonger Demos are taking over along with their war machine backers.
I have read that electronic voting machines, the same type as used in the questionable states, have been ordered at great expense for use in the (when it’s safe to do so

This is different from being able to obtain, possess and use guns.

In Northern Ireland a Firearms Licence has been legally required for air rifles for many years, but I seem to remember that the IRA, UVF, INLA and other organisations seemed to have plenty of armaments up to and including machine guns, illegal since 1920.
