Deleting accounts

Colingl:
As others have said, accounts don’t get deleted. It’s quite simple, don’t like what is on here, then don’t use it.

Sorry but if they request the account is deleted and their posts removed then you will absolutely have to do that under Article 17 of General Data Protection Regulation “The Right To Be Forgotten” legislation due to be adopted in the DPA which will extend existing rights.

Currently under the Data Protection Act a person has a right to object to processing that is likely to cause or is causing damage or distress to them. So if UKtramp informs you they want their account and posts removed under that act because they’re causing him distress then you have no option than to comply unless you can give good reason. Continuing to make their posts available on a forum is processing data.

May I suggest that given that TrucknetUK is operated by a business that you actually go learn about the laws regarding the Data Protection Act and other laws which apply to commercially run internet sites you need to comply with because it is clear to me you don’t actually know.

And we’re off…

Since everything that’s put on here is both voluntary and anonymous, does the DPA still apply?

"This is the sixth data protection principle, and the rights of individuals that it refers to are:

a right of access to a copy of the information comprised in their personal data;

A right to object to processing that is likely to cause or is causing damage or distress;

A right to prevent processing for direct marketing;a right to object to decisions being taken by automated means;

A right in certain circumstances to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed;
and

A right to claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Act.

This part of the guide explains these rights, sets out the duties of organisations in this regard and gives examples of good practice."

What exactly comprises personal data on here? Pictures of your vehicle? Identifying your home town? Photos of someone else’s house that you claim is yours?

There used to be some interesting reading on here once

Maybe, you need to research a bit more, the posts can be removed only if they identify the person ie real name Email, a person is legally responsible for distress caused by themselves …

People, who pedal false information such as the name mentioned , cannot be distressed when they wrote it …

It’s not just UKTwunt’s three accounts that would benefit from being deleted.

Perhaps you could flounce off once again Conor, just like you did last time.

They posted asking to be deleted but both of them , are still in here reading this lol .
