Oh god, not another truck automation thread

But then who would fill trucking forums with complete BS on a daily basis?
Would Dr Damien be immortalised in robot form to accommodate this?

OK, its a very valid debate to have, but couldnt you have introduced a new starting point?

No we’ve moved onto AI manufactured intergalactic freighters and passenger space craft.Hopefully the robots and their designers will then all take Hawkinge’s advice to zb off and find a better place than planet Earth having forgot to programme the on board nav computers with a way back when they don’t find one. :smiling_imp:

This is quite old news Stephen Hawking’s has been saying this for a while now, and he should be listened to, at the moment development of AI and robotics is all about the commercial opportunities, with little regard to the people it displaces, just about the benefits for those who’ll make money from it and will keep pushing the development for their own short term commercial advantage without any concern for the long term problems it may create.

The quote at the End of Jurassic Park seems to be very relevant with all the development going into automation and AI.

Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

I’d guess that an organised human backlash along the lines of something between the Luddites and the John Connor Terminator scenario would happen before the nerds were allowed to succeed. As for the Jurassic Park quote you can add to that they didn’t stop to think why are they doing it and what’s in it for us in general.

As for Hawkinge how can you take someone seriously who says on one hand that the scientists are getting out of hand with their silly ideas, while on the other that we should trust them in an agenda to lead us away from our natural and only home planet into an impossibly hostile universe in the form of inter stellar/galactic space travel and colonisation.Which is at best insane.

You can stop panicking, nobody’s going to force you from Surrey and put you in a Rocket to go and live in a another planet. :open_mouth:
