2weeks with a two year old

my darling wife goes into hospital wednesday for a operation leaving me in charge of my 2 year old son :open_mouth:.

now we haven’t really spent much time alone together because mummys always been about and i have to say i am looking forward to it :sunglasses: . it will make a change from seeing him for just a couple of hours a day and actually being there when he wakes up in the morning.

im just looking for things we can do together and any ideas from you guys is much appreciated.

i shall try to put up a daily log of time together and what a little monster he really is (mums words not mine)

cheers in advance

jon

Enjoy your time together JB, I don’t think it matters what you do in the time the fact you are doing it together will be the thing.

Don’t worry too much I’m sure he will keep you right and will make sure you don’t do anything you shouldn’t.

If your boy is anything like my daughter then be prepared to put on his favorite video again, and again and again, and again, and again.

or

put on his favorite video and have to change it 2 minutes later for his new favorite video. Repeat as often as required.

Seriously though enjoy the time together as Coffee says

one tip though if he has a paddy don’t give in to him or he will run you ragged
he won’t come to any harm whilst having a padddy but be prepared for him to be distressed just ignore him it is hard to do but it will make your life easier in the long run.
if you ignore him he will soon stop and then you can negociate with him
I soon learnt how to do this after my eldest who’s now 13 had a major strop in the middle of town fortunatly (sp) the other 2 (10 &5 ) didn’t really have the dreaded paddy’'s.

What a nightmare, 2 weeks! :open_mouth: Good look JB, im sure you’ll survive M8!

p.s. aint there a woman handy you can draft in the for the 2 weeks? just a thought!

You’re actually complaining about 2 weeks■■? welcome to my world… lol :stuck_out_tongue: You’ll be talking in teletubby language before you’re done hahaha. If you’re anything like Patrick, you try to make up for the missed time by giving in to everything they want. He has a hard time handling it if I’m gone for a few hours, I can’t imagine what it would be like if I were gone a couple of weeks. One potential problem is that he already knows your wife’s limits… and with you having limited time alone with him, he’s probably not quite sure of yours…at least not with everyday things,… and he’s gonna test you… hahahahaha :stuck_out_tongue: Might make ya appreciate the missus just a little bit more.

Trust me, you’ll love it. :grimacing:

If your two year-old is anything like mine you’ll be shattered by the end of it…never again wil you complain about a 15 hour stint at the wheel…but it’s worth it, tenfold.

That may just be jealousy speaking, mind, 'cos I’d give vital parts of my anatomy to spend a 2 minutes with mine…but that’s another story…

just enjoy yourself - they don’t stay kids for long :frowning:

mine are now 20 and 15 :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

fortunately I was working at home when they were small and spent a lot of time with them

the day started at 05.30 yes 05.30 :open_mouth: and ended at 21.30 when he finally gave up and went to bed.(who said truck drivers did long hours).

the day consisted of taking the bread knife to hospital ,feeding the ducks at the park (viscious little blighters), painting mummy a picture (cat pegged it as soon as he seen the playmat come out :open_mouth: ) and watching childrens tv none stop all day long.

i could go on master mind with my specialist subject thomas the blooming tank engine and enjy bloody benji (don’t ask) .

thank heavens for chip shops and tonight it s kebab night (only joking)

all in all we had a great day and he was as good as gold. this morning hes at pre school causing havoc there and will hopefully come back absolutly shattered
