eyesight

Just got a letter back from the dvla re; my recent medical, because I took my test in 1975, I only had to read a number plate at 25 yards , now I dont meet the new eyesight test, they want me to prove I driven an lgv in the last 18 months, which I havnt. I do something different now, but the job is fragile. I might need my licence again very soon. ps, still can read number plate at 40 yds never had an accident involving vision. What can I do?

Don’t just accept the doctors eyetest, book a proper eye test at an optician, they will check them properly.

As for the DVLA, Lie, or talk to your next door neighbour who is an International haulier and ask him to lie for you

I have thought about doing the second thing you mention, what if they check up, I thought about a company thats gone bust no records!

:smiling_imp: I cant advise you further :smiling_imp: on that at least. Just be aware that GP surgeries are not Optometrists or Opticians surgeries, the lighting may be different, the distances may be different even the Snellen charts may be faded or worn.

I originally failed my medical at the doctor on eyesight. by then it is too late, the forms were sent to DVLA. Because I was already driving they had to extend my original licence until I had visited an eye specialist. However the eye test here was within the limits for the new rules that DVLA have set. Eventually I was given the licence but as already stated I now need glasses at all times to drive anything
