Is ME/CFS something you need to notify the DVLA of?

As per thread title…

Do you have to notify the DVLA of an ME/CFS diagnosis?

If you do,I think the doctor who diagnosed you would tell you it’s notifiable.
I think the doctor would also have to notify the DVLA, to confirm you are not a hypochondriac, or whatever.

I don’t think it is notifiable though. A friend of mine has ME, and when he feels fit enough he still rides his motorbike.
A vocational licence has more stringent rules than an ordinary licence.

There is a list of notifiable conditions on this pdf document from the DVLA. I don’t see ME/CFS on there, but you might want to check for yourself.

Knowing how badly my mate can suffer. If you have ME severely enough for it to affect your fitness to drive, you wouldn’t be able to go to work as a driver anyway.

As far as I know, ME/CFS is NOT notifiable. I only know this because it was the diagnosis I was hoping to get for precisely that reason. Unfortunately I dipped out.
