Reapplying for revoked licence. Help please

Hi, just in middle of nightmare. Sent of 5 year medical and had letter that BP diastolic was too high (one reading 104). My home readings have been fine and also 3 readings at doctors. HOWEVER then had to attend specsavers! 2 days later I went to my own opticians who cleared me and everything is ok. Today I’ve had a letter saying that due to my specsavers appointment my license has been revoked!!! I’ve now booked in with my own optician to appeal. Has anyone got any insight or help/guidance they could give. Thanks

Your own optician probably doesn’t have the DVLA approved equipment to carry out eye examinations. Thats why they want to send you to a Specsavers branch as some of their branches do, plus the Specsavers have the contract with the DVLA to carry out eye exams for medicals, so it’s all a big money making scam between them imo.
I’m actually going for my DVLA eye exam at Specsavers in East Kilbride tomorrow morning. Had surgery for a detached retina last month, and even though the specialist who carried out my operation, and who I went to see twice afterwards for check ups says my eyes are fine now, this isn’t good enough to satisfy the DVLA!!! I even went to my local Specsavers a couple of weeks ago for my own piece of mind, done the visual field test in both eyes separately, and never missed any green dots. All this information was put on my v1V medical forms I sent off to them, but they still want me to go for another visual field test at another Specsavers branch!!!
As the adverts say, You Should Have Gone To Specsavers!

Well I’m hoping it should be ok. My own opticians do have the field test thing and it had been fine. Have to say specsavers did rush me and I’m hoping my own opticians test this week will be fine and I can get it sent off but the paperworks a nightmare and the timescales seem to be horrendous! If yours was fine then why send you for another? Makes no sense!

No idea why the DVLA can’t accept the word of a constant/specialist with regards to someone being fit to drive or not. Surely there is no better qualified person than a specialist to decide! Same with the opticians. Surely as long as they are registered opticians, the dvla should take their results as all the evidence they need! As far as I know, the DVLA field test tests both eyes together. Surely if you have a problem in one eye, your good eye can compensate for it and you could pass with a problem in the other. The normal field test does one eye at a time, so any defects are noticeable right away. I don’t get it at all. Just the dvla medical group trying to justify their existence probably.

In most of these cases the DVLA send you a letter saying you can drive as normal BUT you must attend one of their own places to get checked out for FREE at a date and time they specify

I have no idea why this has not happened in your case …

To check the pressure in the eyes the only true accurate way is to go to a specialist to have the yukky yellow drops in them and then the specialist gets a true reading - the puff of air way is not that accurate if that is what you had done

I always have my eye tests done at Specsavers, every 12 months in my case.
The puff of air into the eye is the normal test for pressures associated with Glaucoma, the yukky yellow drops are to dilate the pupils when having the retina photographed as I do being supposedly diabetic.
The peripheral vision test, the flashing light thing, is done on each eye individually at Specsavers, so this should be more realistic than checking both eyes together.
