Is there any pain worse than gout?

Gout has to be managed.
As other posts have noted diet is a major provoking factor for gout. I have also found drinking a lot of water helpful, it helps flush out the uric acid that causes the attacks.
If you can’t manage to give up the stuff you enjoy (and I can’t) I can recommend taking a daily dose of allopurinol.
It is a preventative so you have to be a bit disciplined about taking it regularly and don’t wait until you have an attack, it’s too late, anti-inflamatories are the only thing that will work for you now.
If you are taking it and have an attack, deal with using anti-inflamatories then talk to your doc about gradually upping the dose.
It works for me.
